Art exhibition launched in memory of much-loved Wrexham lecturer

A print exhibition being held in memory of a much-loved Art and Design Lecturer who worked at Wrexham University, has opened at the INSERT Gallery.

Art enthusiasts, students, graduates and staff are being encouraged to view the special exhibition, ‘A Journey through Prints’, featuring the profound artistic legacy of the late Pat Cooke.

On display until Thursday, December 21, open Mondays to Fridays between 10am – 3pm at Wrexham School of Art on Regent Street, this exhibition promises a visual journey inspired by Pat’s unique perspective.

Remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Pat was not only an accomplished artist and printmaker but also a popular Lecturer. Pat sadly passed away in May 2020,

Conceived and curated by Yadzia Williams, a close friend and colleague of Pat, the exhibition offers a glimpse into Pat’s exploration through the world of printmaking. flowers and butterflies.

Yadzia, a Senior Lecturer in Art and Design at the University, said: “Pat’s art shares a story that connects with everyone. It’s a tale of dealing with difficulties, discovering beauty in moments and making a lasting impact through creativity.

“It was a privilege to curate this exhibition – I truly hope we have done Pat and her family proud. Pat’s loss is deeply felt by all who knew her, she is incredibly missed by all.”

Dr Paul Jones, Curator of the INSERT Gallery and Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at the University, added: “Pat’s impact on both her students and the art community is palpable in this extraordinary and immensely moving collection of works.

“The prints showcased in the exhibition will be available for purchase, with all proceeds dedicated to The Christie Charity—a cause close to Pat’s heart.

“This unique opportunity allows people to acquire a piece of art while contributing to a meaningful and impactful cause. We know that Pat would be pleased that proceeds from her works will be going to such an important cause.”
