A 48 hour strike by Arriva Trains Wales Drivers scheduled to take place next week has been cancelled.

Yesterday Wrexham.com reported that ASLEF, The Train Driver’s Union had announced that drivers for Arriva Wales Trains would take strike action for 48 hours – beginning on 00:01 on October 22nd and ending on 11:50pm on 23 October 2015.

The strike was announced in response to an ongoing dispute over pay.

However the strike has since been suspended so that further discussions on pay can take place.

RMT, Britain’s Largest Specialist Union Transport were also due to take place in the strike, however it is not yet known if their planned industrial action on the 22nd and 23rd will take place.

Gareth Thomas, Arriva Trains Wales HR Director says: “We are obviously pleased that the proposed industrial action is going to be suspended. We will now be working closely with the Unions to come to an agreement to resolve this round of pay negotiations.”
