Anthony Hopkins to star as Wrex The Dragon in Superbowl advert
Sir Anthony Hopkins is Wrex The Dragon, and will be appearing in the Superbowl in more normal news for Wrexham.
The Port Talbot born megastar is shown roaring along as Wrex, the second most famous Wrexham AFC mascot.
It has been widely speculated that a standard ad slot at the Superbowl is priced at £5m this year, with 115,000,000 estimated viewers of the broadcast itself. Superbowl ads are often quirky or involving big stars such as Wrex, and are also subject to large exposure in the run up to the game itself.
Jay, a USA based Wrexham fan who we have highlighted before over his work on fundraising for Wrexham Foodbank, pointed out the spot on The Today Show.
The official video from the channel shows part of the Hopkins ad, which promotes Stok Cold Brew.

The Today Show report that Hopkins is ‘stepping into the role of Wrex The Dragon’, it is unclear if that is now for all home games.
The Superbowl is being held on the 11th at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
