Update: Police have issued a sad statement relating to the incident – here.

Original information below.

The Wales Air Ambulance has landed by Wrexham Old Road between Gresford and Borras to assist with an emergency service response that has seen a link road closed off.

The main link road was closed off by police just before 4pm, appearing to be for concerns for the safety of an individual.

Police have said, “Due to a serious ongoing incident on the A5156 Llan Y Pwll by-pass, Wrexham – both sides of the carriageway are closed from the Gresford roundabout”.

The air ambulance landed nearby at 5:25 PM.

A second air ambulance arrived overhead shortly after but then left the area.

The A5156 remains closed off as of 5:30pm.
