The latest in the now regular local policing updates has been circulated, with Inspector Luke Hughes back writing them.

Operating from Wrexham ‘City’ Police Station, he has highlighted 61 calls for service over the 24 hour period covering Thursday into Friday (today)

Again it details the wide range of calls and responses local officers attend, with a sample of some of the calls below from the log.

As usual, it is copied in full below:

Afternoon all….. Yes…  I’m late today, not because of any natural disaster or significant event… I just got lost in my backlog of email and picked up a few issues that needed some attention. But better late than never…. Also I looked out my window and saw some wet stuff was falling out of the sky… I think they call it rain and it was a pleasant surprise… but its summer so it can go away again now, I much preferred the nice sunshine.

It’s been a strange week, two days back and then straight into the weekend, I did also call in on Wednesday but that was to say goodbye to a member of staff who was retiring. PC 154 Graham Bailey, leaving North Wales Police after 21 years’ service and it was my pleasure to also present him with his long service medal at the same time, good luck Graham you will be missed. Picture attached and it seems I am the fastest hand shaker in the world… in what is clearly a staged and slightly awkward picture.

So onto the review of the last 24hrs. 61 calls for service – a busy one.

08:00hrs – Officers brief for deployment having been advised that we are to receive a visit to the area by some prominent nominals; they duly arrive and conduct their business without issue.

09:00hrs – NPT (Neighbourhood Police Team) attend to a report of 5 drunk males in the area of Bradley road, I acknowledge we have a number of homeless individuals who drink to excess, on occasion they also cause issues and we are working with a number of agencies to address this and the ASB that is occasionally caused, sadly it’s not a quick fix but we are making progress.

09:55hrs – Report of theft from the rear compound of a DIY store, offenders having climbed a fence to steal willow panels. In case you are offered any for sale…. Generally they are not sold door to door….

10:11hrs – Male sighted on CCTV who is wanted in connection with a recent series of motorbike thefts – arrested – interviewed and realised on bail with curfew… hope he is a light sleeper as I would imagine he will be checked at regular intervals over the next few weeks… I really do hope it’s not too late at night….

11:14hrs – Report that 3 males have stolen up to 22 bottles of whisky from a large retailer in Plas Coch. The items being pushed out in a trolley… I consider this to be organised crime with offenders travelling into Wrexham from outside the area, very much like the high value perfume thefts, this alcohol will be sold on line etc… Retailers, be they large national companies or local independent traders have a right to conduct their business in safety and with local police support; officers have been tasked to attend today and review the CCTV. I`m also grateful to the locally elected members who are showing support and no doubt will help us resolve these issues, thank you.

12:59hrs – Fire reported in the rear garden of a property on Queensway – it appears that some pallets have been set on fire and this has caused damage to a fence and property adjacent to the fence. No injury and prompt attendance from fire service was appreciated. Enquires ongoing to establish the cause of ignition.

14:46hrs – Problematic female at the job centre – offensive language being used in the presence of the public and staff – officers attend and she is arrested – we are now considering applying conditions to prohibit her entering the town, why should she be allowed to behave like this in public, disgusting behaviour.

15:09hrs – two males arrested for theft from a retailer in the Plas Coch retail park. Potentially linked to other offences at the location – all incidents now being collated – they too are from outside the area.

17:21hrs – suspicious incident– couple seen looking into a property on Bury street, challenged by a local resident and officers attend – no entry gained – possibly innocent but glad we were called just in case.

17:41hrs – officers detain a male in the town centre – he has been seen acting in a confused manner, he is erratic and following enquiries it is established that he had absconded from a mental health establishment in south wales, he is taken to a place of safety and then collected by the appropriate care staff, hopefully officers have prevented any harm coming to him.

18:12hrs – report of youths having thrown an items at a passing vehicle on Prince Charles road – youths are climbing a tree from which the objects were thrown, parents please ensure you control your children and if your children were out at this time aged 11 – 12 ensure they are not involved in ASB or damage like this.. Thank you

20:46hrs – officers attended to a heated dispute and one female is arrested.

General Issues including minor ASB, Concerns & a domestic abuse matter.

01:50hrs – report of collapsed male in Rhostyllen, located and help provided, no criminal issues identified.

02:42hrs – officers attend to report of a male who is causing issues as a residential property, obstructive and refuses to leave. He is extracted and also issued a Community Protection Notice (CPN) with a number of conditions relevant to his recent behaviour, any breaches will result in his immediate arrest; please don’t cause issues in our City/town.

04:20hrs – Report of alarm activation at property on Island Green, officers arrive and notice a damaged window, maybe an attempt burglary – CCTV to be review today.

05:54hrs – Report of a male having refused treatment at the hospital but staff have concerns, officers tasked with locating and encouraging him to return.

Have a good day all, stay safe and take care.

Luke
