Yale College is a further education college based in the heart of Wrexham. The college provides adult training, higher education and workforce development courses which includes A levels, NVQs, National Diplomas and apprenticeships.

The college is named after Elihu Yale, founder of Yale University in Connecticut, who is buried in St Giles Parish Church in Wrexham. Its main Grove Park campus is based in the old Wrexham & East Denbighshire War Memorial Hospital, although the majority of buildings now used by the college are relatively new.

Yale Grammar and Technical School as it was originally known, was established as a state school on Crispin Lane in 1950 before becoming a sixth form college in 1973. The college in its current existence opened in 1998 on the Grove Park site after a three year refurbishment process having moved from Crispin Lane.

The Grove Park site has a reception, careers advice and guidance, shop, cafe, restaurant, hair salon and theatre all on campus. It also has its own student magazine called Zed and a radio station.

In 1999 the college was infamously the subject of a trademark infringement suit from the American university over the use of the name. As a result Yale in Wrexham must now be referred to as “Yale College in Wrexham”.

In August 2013 the college merged with Deeside College to create Coleg Cambria, the new college for North East Wales.  In total Coleg Cambria will serve over 27,000 students.
