A body has been found in the search for a missing man in Wrexham.

Shortly before 3.15pm today (Tuesday, June 4th), officers were alerted to a report of a body in the water at Ty Mawr Country Park, Cefn Mawr.

Emergency services had been scouring the area around the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct since Thursday 30 May.

Colleagues from the North West Underwater Search Team also assisted with searches in the River Dee.

Chief Inspector Stephen Roberts said: “Formal identification is yet to take place, but the man’s family has been informed. Our thoughts remain with them at this extremely difficult time.

“Thank you to the local community and partner agencies who have assisted with searches over recent days.”
